100 Monkeys Swing into Vancouver

Interview by Avril Savoie
Exclusive to Rockstar Weekly

The world has already encountered The Monkees, Iron Monkey, Monkey Bone, 12 Monkeys, Monkey Business, The Curse of Monkey Island, The Arctic Monkeys and ton of other primate collaborations, but never before has the world encountered something quite like 100 Monkeys.

The Los Angeles-based band, comprised of Ben Graupner, Jackson Rathbone (from the Twilight movie saga), Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and Uncle Larry, will be performing in Vancouver on Sept. 12 at the Rickshaw Theatre. Will be it an event of tree swinging proportions? Can you afford to monkey around? Drop that banana and find out.

RockStar Weekly had a chance to talk to the entire band about coming to Vancouver, how they originally got together, and who really wears that banana suit (I know there's a monkey in a banana suit joke in there somewhere).

We also couldn't resists talking to Jackson about his new flick Twilight "New Moon", the second tale in the Twilight saga, which hits theatres this November. We also broke the ice about his lead role in the 2010 epic The Last Airbender, the new film from director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs).

100 Monkeys will be signing autographs this Saturday, Sept. 12 at Neptoon Records from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. and tickets for The Rickshaw Theatre Show are available by clicking here. You can also visit our contest page to find out how you and a friend can win tickets to the show.

Check out the interview, and see how infectious monkey power really is...

You are here in Vancouver. How are you enjoying it?

You don’t mind all the rain?

Are you doing any sightseeing while your hear?

Are you mixing the new album in a studio here in Vancouver?

How did the 100 Monkeys band get together?

How about the name of the band. Where did that come from?

Do you really believe in the 100th monkey effect?

Was Vancouver always on the radar, or was it that you were in town already Jackson?

In your photos you have a guy dressed in a banana suit. Where did that come from and who was chosen to wear the suit?

I’ve read there’s an element of improve with your shows. Where did that come from?

Can everyone in the band really play every instrument in the 100 Monkey Switcheroo?

Are there any instruments that you can’t play that you’d like to?

This question is for Jackson. Is music or acting more important to you?

With Jackson acting, when do you guys find time to play?

Do you get any celebrities joining you on stage?

Anyone else, beside Uncle Larry?

Has Twilight changed you life in any way?

How about the band, has the hysteria from Twilight helped the band?

With New Moon coming in November, fans are wondering what to expect from the movie, does it follow the book at all or will there be a lot of pieces that are different from the book?

Is there anything cool you can reveal about New Moon?

You also got to work on The Last Airbender. That looks like a cool movie.

What’s it like working with M. Night Shyamalan?

Any chance we’ll get to hear music from 100 Monkeys on your movie soundtracks?

What would it take for someone like me to become or considered for monkey number 101?
