Take It Back's Nick Thomas Sings Messages Of Hope |
|
Interview by Avril Savoie Exclusive to RockStar Weekly ![]() ![]() RockStar Weekly recently had the chance to speak with Nick Thomas, the vocalist from Christian hardcore/punk band Take It Back. He revealed how he went from being the band's bass player to becoming the lead vocalist, a role he said he's still getting used to. We also discussed the Take It Back ministry: "Our calling is to be out there and play with Christians and non Christians alike," he said. "To some people music is like an escape and we don't necessarily want to have people escape with our music. We want to draw attention to things that are pleasant in the world and show them that there is hope. So we're really there to offer kids a fresh perspective of hope." RockStar Weekly sat down for this exclusive interview: For those not familiar with the band, fill us in on the history and how you got to where we are today. How did you get into the band? Can you tell me more about the line-up now? You said you have new members. Was it difficult to switch from Bass to vocals? Is it more natural now? It looks like you guys capture some of that early punk rock influence in both your sound and your image. What are your influences? You guys decided to do a couple covers on the new album. Why did you choose those songs? Do you know if Henry Rollins has heard your take on Rise Above? The new EP has a very primal punk vibe. Will the new album be like this as well? What were the main differences recording the EP compared to Cant Fight Robots? You guys seem to have fun with everything you do. Is this fun for you? All fun things aside, there is a serious part to what you do. Tell me about the T.I.B Ministry. One of the things written about T.I.B. says that you guys came to Facedown with recommendations. Do you guys have lots of friends in the biz? |
