PNE - 100 Years Of Fun

Ace Frehley Puts An End To Internet Rumors

Interview by Dan Savoie
Exclusive to Rockstar Weekly

Ace Frehley

Ace Frehley

After more than 20 years, original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is back – and he told us so. Ace sat down with RockStar Weekly to talk about the new album and laying to rest some internet rumors.

The spaceman returns to the music world with Anomaly, his first solo CD for his own record label and has recently signed with Vancouver-based management company Chief Music Management, the company that handles the affairs of Hinder and Faber Drive.

Ace has been sober for three years and feels great. “I’ve been struggling with sobriety for a long time,” Ace says. “I’ve been lucky, but it’s a day to day battle.”

There have also been many internet rumors that Ace hates. One report in 2007 said the guitarist was dead. A couple new ones include a divorce with his wife of more than 30 years and having to stop using his famous smoking guitar (as reported by Rolling Stone). Ace puts those rumors to rest in our interview – click below to listen.

He also revealed that he stopped recording his new album last year to tour and show the world that he could still play – a rumor started by Gene Simmons, who has been taking stabs at the spaceman lately.

Ace describes the new album as similar to the first couple Ace Frehley albums, although a bit heavier. He also revealed that the iTunes only track The Return of The Space Bear is a track that features commentary from his famous interview with Tom Snyder back in 1979.

Check out the complete interview here:

After about 20 years, you’re back with a new album. It must be really exciting in the Ace camp right now.

Will there be a tour to support Anomaly?

One of the things that I wanted to ask you about is that I have noticed that you are working with a Vancouver Management company. How did you hock up with them?

What happened to your old Management?

During that 20 years span you reunited with KISS for the reunion and the Psycho Circus album and tour. There has been lots written about it in KISS propaganda and even Gene’s books, but what was the experience like from your perspective?

Was it a bad thing leaving, was it a mutual?

You’ve had a life worthy of many books. Will there be an Ace Frehley bio at some point?

Speaking of Reality stuff. Have you ever sat down and watched Gene’s Show?

I’ve read that you’ve been sober for three years. How are you feeling?

Are you afraid going on the road might bring out some temptations?

I noticed on the Internet Movie Database that it said you and Jeanette are divorced. Is that true?

That’s another false thing on the internet, then?

How are things going with Monique? She pops up in the media every now and then.

How was the gig with the School of Rock kids? What was it like to play with the kids?

Did you ever get to see the School of Rock movie?

There’s not much available on the internet about Anomaly. It’s like a top secret release. Are there concerns of leaking the release on the internet?

Has the internet changed you in how you do business now?

You actually have an itunes track only for you new release too.

The cover is very slick. Is that your design?

Any chance we’ll see some of that famous “Ace art” that we’ve see pop up every now and then like on you album covers, is there a chance we will see any of that in an exhibition or anything like what Paul Stanley is doing with his?

What was it like recording Anomaly?

It took about 2 years for this album, that’s a long time, comparative to the other stuff that you did.

What was the reason than that you decided to do a tour and took a break from recording?

Was there any animosity between you and Gene?

It was that mix of personality that made what KISS was, right?

I’ve heard Sister and Outer Space, these sound really heavy compared to some of your older stuff. Is the rest of the album like that?

What’s the album like as a whole if you would put it together in just a couple of words.

Can we talk about each track, so we can get an idea what we’re in for?

Fox On The Run

Space Bear & The Return of Space Bear. The songs sounds like a blast.

What’s the deal with the smoking guitar? I hear it’s going to be retired.

The information came from to a Rolling Stone interview, they said that it wont be used anymore.

Are there new effects that your working on?
