Double Jack |
|
Interview by Avril Savoie
Exclusive to Rockstar Weekly
![]() ![]() With their first single 'Tribute to Angel' charting across Lethbridge airwaves, Double Jack's stock continues to rise. The Roadhouse & Tommy G's, 'Battle of the Bands' champions have opened for 54-40 and Grady. By selling out their debut EP, 'One Chance', Double Jack has become the city's favourite new rock group. From supporting big name acts like Ted Nugent and Snoop Dogg while with 'Suite 33', lead vocalist Marc Belisle's 4-year North American tour, has given the rising rock messiah the tools and experience to turn a room into a riot! Marc thrives in the limelight, becoming the remaining survivor of a 150 act, Battle of the Bands in Winnipeg, at just the tender age of 15! It was only two years ago that Marc jumped off the tour bus to follow his dream of creating an eminent rock group. Marc's secret recipe includes: trachea shredding vocal melodies, shimmering guitar tone and a rumbling low end beat that could rattle loose the security at a G8 summit. Double Jack features Jack Stevens on guitar with neck snapping licks, creatively drawing from the swirling cauldron of emotions bottled deep inside. Notorious for abusing drum kits, Jordan 'Wild-Man' is a dead ringer for the Muppets 'Animal' but shirtless. Carved above his six-pack, a fiercely etched scorpion. While in the womb, Sushi's Brazilian mother would rejoice around the fire. Feeding off the Tribes samba vibrations, her fetus would inherit the gift of groove. Double Jack is set to emerge from Southern Alberta, finally placing Lethbridge on the musical map. Their new website invades cyberspace this fall to coincide with the release of their second album. For a volatile, modern rock assault see Double Jack live. I had the pleasure of talking to everyone in the band for this interview. So I've heard you call one of your gigs as "Paid rehearsals", how is that going? Tell me a bit about Double Jack. Where did the name come from? A good voice needs to be backed up with a great band. It certainly sounds like Jack, Luke and Jordan have the chops. So I understand you guys sold out of all the copies of your debut EP. Thats cool. How is the Deuces Wild CD different from the EP? Youre pretty much the young guns on Cyclone Records. How did you hook up with them? Whats the Lethbridge rock scene like? What makes you want to be a rocker as a chosen career? Who are your influences? Do you think the Canadian rock scene has become friendlier to new bands compared to the old stories we hear about how hard it was back in the Guess Who era? Theres always stories about lessons learned as a band grows. What are some of the lessons youve learned over the last couple years? How did you guy's get together? Tell me about the 4 year North American tour that is in your bio. How did you ever get to open for Snoop Dogg. Isnt that something better for someone like Ice Cube? |
