|
Interview by Avril Savoie
Exclusive to Rockstar Weekly![]() ![]() We had the chance to catch up with Leatherwolf vocalist/guitarist Michael Olivieri while walking his dog on a bright summer day. Michael recalled the early days of Leatherwolf when they were recording their debut album 25 years ago - and he's also a master of great road stories, with plenty to say. In this exclusive RockStar Weekly Interview, he reveals how they got the name "Leatherwolf", and also discusses his solo career. He recently released his first solo album Goodbye Rain in July and has started to play seleceted solo dates around the California area. So check out the interview and uncover the stories. Do you remember recording the first album? What's different about recording now compared to back then? Do you miss anything that you use to do, that you don't do now? Do you know the story behind how you got the band name? Leatherwolf's kind of gone full circle in the last couple years with your return. What brought you back to Leatherwolf? Are you having fun with the live gigs? What are some of the songs that really gets a Leatherwolf concert going? Is the fire the band had back in 1984 still there? What's different with the metal scene now compared to the 80s? What do you remember from the 80s? The band took a rather large break back at the end of the 80s. What prompted the original break-up? Even though there were CDs and the band was around, it wasn't until New World Asylum was released that Leatherwolf got some attention again. Was that time like a re-birth of sorts? Will there be more Leatherwolf CDs? How about any solo ambition? The name of you solo album , and what's the story behind the name? What music influenced you? My husband has to claim that the first record he owned was The Village People Live. What was your first album purchase? |
