The Red Chord Talk Teeth Machine & Touring

The Red Chord

After the release of The Red Chord’s newest album Fed Through The Teeth Machine earlier this year, the Revere, Massachusetts deathcore band joined forced with GWAR on one of the most violent tours on the road today. The tour hits Vancouver on Monday, November 30, complete with GWAR's giant stage prop penis' and all.

The Red Chord was a five piece band, which has recently transformed into a four piece band – RockStar Weekly asked Mike “Gunface” McKenzie, guitarist and backing vocalist for the band. “Well we decided we'd fire our old guitar player - he wasn’t working out and we decided that we really like way the four of us really gelled. We’ve always sort of talked about taking a chance and doing the four piece thing and one day we just went for it and we like it. I’m not saying that we’ll never go back to a five piece, but as of now I don’t see any sign of us doing that”

The new CD is out. That must feel good.

And you’re out on tour supporting the album already. How is that going?

GWAR is a unique entity. What’s it like touring with that band?

I bet music charts aren’t something you guys care too much about, but the new album seems to be doing well.

The new album is a slight bit more extreme than the last couple albums. What was the inspiration for writing and recording it?

Is there a theme behind the songs?

What is the idea behind Fed Through The Teeth Machine? It’s a unique title.

Was the album cover a concept that you guys worked on?

How did you get a Michael Windsor to do your album cover?

You guys probably could have recorded something like Pray For Eyes again, but there’s something different about the new album. It’s more intense. What did you guys do differently in the studio to get that intense sound?

This time around you guys are a four piece band. What happened that led to that?

Did becoming a four piece make you guys re-think how you approached writing the new album?

Are some of the older songs harder to play with one less guitar?

You guys shot the Demoralizer music video on Halloween. Was it a good shoot?

When will it be out for everyone to see it?

Grindcore or deathcore? Which genre do you think you guys are?

I read on your website that this summer you guys helped out Walls Of Jericho. Tell me about what happened and what led to you guys helping out.

Would you consider doing vocals more often?

Would you put out your own solo album?
