The Xecutioner Speaks About Gorgoroth

The Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth, has just released their new album Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt and are now on tour in Australia and South America to close out the year. Then in 2010, the controversial and evil band will be doing a mini-tour of Europe.

We wondered how the fans are reacting to the new line-up of Gorgoroth, so we asked their new bassist Bøddel (Frank Watkins). “The reaction was killer, I had a lot of people tell me that they seen Gorgoroth when they first started and this is the best line-up they’ve seen live…” he said in our exclusive interview.

Bøddel has also been the bass player for Obituary, more or less since 1989, so we also couldn't resits asking him about the new Obituary CD.

1 You’re a busy guy with duties for both Obituary and Gorgoroth. Is it easy to shuffle between the two?

2 That’s pretty crazy. You must of hoped on a plane as soon as the one show was done.

3 How do your Obituary band mates feel about you joining up with Gorgoroth?

4 It took 2 years for the new version of Gorgoroth to surface. Was there a reason for the delay? Did it have anything to do with the name dispute?

5 How did fans react to the first Gorgoroth show with the new line-up?

6 Is performing with Gorgoroth different than Obituary?

7 Obituary was dark, but Gorgoroth is purely evil. Was the transition to the evil side something you looked forward to?

8 Is that what drew you to Gorgoroth?

9 With evil comes controversy. And Gorgoroth has had it’s share. Are you OK with the controversial part?

10 Being an American in a Norwegian band must be a bit different.

12 Were you a fan of the band before you joined?

13 Being only involved with the new album gives a unique perspective, so how would you compare the new Gorgoroth album to previous ones.

14 I’ve noticed that lyrics for Gorgoroth are pretty much never printed – is there a reason for this?

15 Where did you come up with your Gorgoroth stage name?

17 While all this was going on Obituary also put out a new album this year. Tell me about that.

18 Obituary is one of the best selling death metal bands of all time. That must be an honor.

22 Touring might get a bit tricky once Gorgoroth starts to play more gigs next year.
