Unholy Want To Open Your Closed Eyes

New Life Behind Closed Eyes was release earlier this year and since then doom metal band Unholy have been on tour supporting it, which they are “pretty proud of” says guitarist Jonathan Dennison.

Unholy's music is a hybrid of metal/hardcore and is not your typical thrash band - the band features riff-driven and even melodic tunes.

“We love so much rock music as well that we had to have a rock back bone with Unholy. As much as there are a lot of hardcore and metal influences within the music, there is a lot of rock also. So that always going to be a foundation for Unholy… as for melodic we want to create feel and emotional music as well, instead of characterless with cold songs that aren’t really memorable,” said Dennison.

New Life Behind Closed Eyes is out. That must be really exciting.

Other than the obvious addition of Billy on vocals, what would you describe as different on the new CD compared to Blood of the Medusa.

The album seems to have a theme about man’s downfall. Is that an accurate evaluation?

Where did the theme for the new CD come from?

The album cover is pretty cool – it’s a bit like the thrash metal version of the house from the movie Up! What was the inspiration for that – and please don’t say Up!

Did you give the artist direction on how you wanted it done, or did he come up with the idea himself?

Things seem to be moving quickly for you guys this year. Could we have a little bit of the background of the band and what led to signing with Prosthetic Records.

Your music is truly a metal/hardcore hybrid. Is there a certain style you’re going for?

There aren’t many thrash bands that really rely on riff-driven, and even melodic, tunes.

Has having Billy in the band changed things at all?
